The Turtle and the Rabbit

I wish that I could be the turtle;
Running in the race.
For though the bunny’s very fast;
I set a steady pace.

He starts off with leaps and hops;
When we first begin.
But he’ll soon rest, then I’ll pass by,
And in the end I’ll win!

I was inspired to write this simple, short poem by the story of the Turtle and the Hair.

Sister

For there is no friend like a sister,
In calm or stormy weather,
To cheer one on the tedious way,
To fetch one if one goes astray,
To lift one if one totters down,
To strengthen whilst one stands.
